Day 13

30 Day Challenge - Day 13

Turn

A person can work hard, do good things, learn about God, and go to church but not have a real relationship with Him. It can be like trying to look at God through a curtain.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18 in the Passion Translation says:

“But the moment one turns to the Lord with an open heart, the veil is lifted and they see.

Now, the “Lord” I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever he is Lord, there is freedom.

We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus.”

The word “turn” can mean several things: pivot and direct attention to or from are two of the meanings. We could substitute either of these definitions for the word “turn” in verse 16.

“But the moment “one directs attention to” the Lord with an open heart, the veil is lifted and they see.

God loves it when we pivot, or shift our attention to focus on Him with our hearts open. It seems obvious, but focusing on someone causes us to see them more clearly. This seeing is meant to be more than momentary, it is meant to be life altering, causing our lives to pivot.

Another definition of turn is “ponder”. Turning to God also renews our mind.

When we receive communion we intentionally focus/turn our hearts and minds toward God. We ponder the salvation, healing and deliverance we received through the cross.

To move around on an axis or rotate is another definition of turn.

As you receive communion today

“Pray like this: ‘Our Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms, may the glory of your name be the center on which our lives turn.” Matthew 6:9 TPT
